Tips for managing anxiety

May 4, 2018

Calm your worries

Feeling uptight, tense, or nervous can impact your physical health, relationships, and work. Working with a therapist can help you learn tools to manage stress, maintain focus, and reduce the impact of anxiety on your life.

How it works

Cognitive training

Addresses the mental (or cognitive) factors associated with stress like racing thoughts and worrying about things out of your control

Mindfulness techniques

Improve your ability to relax and control increases in stress that arise with life’s daily challenges

Sleep strategies

Train your mind and body to get more restful, enjoyable sleep in spite of stress and anxiety

What to expect

  • Your provider will work with you to tailor care to your specific experience with anxiety
  • Six to eight sessions are typically needed to most effectively help you manage anxiety, but even two sessions can make a difference in your stress levels
  • Stress management is covered by most health insurance plans
  • Cost depends on your insurance, typically involving a co-pay
